Post a review about Medinah Country Clubin MedinahSince the Medinah Country Club hosted the Medinah Open in 1930, its Course #3 has been the site of twelve major golf championships. Included among these tournaments were the 1999 PGA Championship, three U. S. Opens, one U. S. Senior Open and three Western Opens. The course is scheduled to host the PGA Championship in 2006. In the early 1920s, a group of Shriners from Chicago's Medinah Temple had dream to create the best country club in North America with a 54-hole golf complex and a variety of other recreational activities. They selected several parcels of land in an area then known as Meacham, in northern DuPage County in Illinois. Tom Bendelow, a world-renowned golf course architect from Scotland, was retained to design the golf courses.
